Top Middle East Businesswomen

The two-day 9th Global Businesswomen and Leaders Forum, was held on March 7 and 8, 2007 at Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai. The Forum discussed a wide range of subjects on economic empowerment and other gender issues.

The forum supported by Dubai Businesswomen's Council, is part of a continuing series of annual conferences under the brand name of WOIBEX, organized by Datamatix Group, the region's foremost knowledge organization. Hewlett Packard (HP) and FORSA UAE supported this event as the co-sponsors.

The conference, is annually held to coincide with the International Woman's Day, draws outstanding woman leaders from the world of business, economy, politics and the academia who discuss ways to achieve sustainable development by breaking barriers to economic growth, according to Ali Al Kamali, Managing Director, Datamatix Group.

The forum in 2007 addressed issues relevant to today's women such as their role in politics, as an entrepreneur and mother in the global business world. A distinguished array of renowned speakers, explored new opportunities to reach out to others sharing the same interests and do business networking.

The speakers included Dr. Massoumeh Ebtekar, former Vice President of Islamic Republic of Iran; Ms. Raja Al Gurg, President, Dubai Businesswomen Council; Dr. Loula Loi-Alafogiannis, Executive Global President, CEO & Founder, Euro-American Women's Council (EAWC), Greece; Dr. Edit Schlaffer, Founder of Women Without Borders, Austria; Ms. Ceyda Aydede, CEO, Global Public Relations and Consultancy, Istanbul, Turkey; Ms. Shamsa Rashid, CEO, FORSA, UAE.

The forum, sponsored by Dubai Businesswomen Council, HP and FORSA was attended by ministers, ambassadors, foreign diplomats, directors and other high ranking delegates who shared their knowledge with businesswomen, woman professionals, woman leaders, successful woman entrepreneurs, and women decision makers across the globe.
