Phan Thị Kim Phúc OOnt (Vietnamese Pronunciation, born April 1963, referred to informally as the Girl In The Picture and the Napalm Girl, is a South Vietnamese-Born Canadian woman best known as the nine-year-old child depicted in the Pulitzer Prize winning photograph, titled "The Terror of War", taken at Trảng Bàng during the Vietnam War on June 8, 1972.
The image, taken for the Associated Press by a 21-year-old Vietnamese-American photographer named Nick Ut, shows her at nine years of age running naked on a road after being severely burned on her back by a South Vietnamese napalm attack.
She later founded the Kim Foundation International to provide aid to child victims of war. Kim has been awarded the Woman Personality of the Year, the award was presented to Kim personally, by Mervat Tallawy, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) and H.E Dr Raja Al Gurg, Dr. Raja Al Gurg, Chairperson and Managing Director of the Al Gurg Group (ESAG), She has been recognized in a very special ceremony for the Middle East Women Leaders Awards which coincided with the International Women’s Day, which is essentially an endorsement of the great leadership and passion Kim had during these years from what she has been through.
The award pays tribute to the remarkable peace creating knowledge which was distributed by KIM globally and forgiveness which she always gone through although she has suffered from many consequences, but peace was always her word over the past years.
